Photo Essay: Purple

One of the best presents I’ve ever got was a collection of colorful five fingered socks – with a different color for each finger. When it comes to photography, vivid, strong contrasting colors are my favorites – especially those that can be found in nature.
This photo essay is a short hymn to all the beautiful shades of purple I’ve enjoyed on my spring hikes.
What does the color purple mean?
Nobility, majesty, spirituality, mystery, magic, dignity, wisdom. Purple combines the stability of blue and the energy of red.
In color psychology, it represents the future, imagination and dreams. It encourages creativity. It’s the color of the sensitive, compassionate intuitive soul – the introvert. It’s also the color of penance in the Catholic liturgy.
Lavender is a popular shade of purple that is usually associated with romantic, sentimental and nostalgic feelings. Darker shades often represent luxury, while lilac can be the color of vanity, glamour and youthfulness.
Do you like purple? What does it represent for you?
