A Place From Fairy Land: Plitvice Lakes

There are some places that look almost unreal. They remind us of those faraway places in wonderland that exist only in our imagination. Like a chain of 16 crystal clear terraced lakes joined by countless smaller and bigger waterfalls. Why exactly 16? It’s not even a magic number. Still the number is 16 for real. Because this place exists – it’s Plitvice Lakes National Park in the Dinaric karst area of Croatia. It’s one of our favorite national parks in Europe. Why? We’d rather answer that with our favorite pictures…
“The earth has its music for those who listen.” (George Santayana)
“I love the sounds and the power of pounding water, whether it is the waves or a waterfall.” (Mike May)
“Just living is not enough… one must have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower.” (H. C. Andersen)
“A waterfall cannot be silent, just as the wisdom! When they speak, the voice of power speaks!” (Mehmet Murat Ildan)
“The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quiet, alone with the heavens, nature and God. Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be.” (Anne Frank)
“Art will never be able to exist without nature.” (Pierre Bonnard)
“Nature’s peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves.” (John Muir)
