Our First Blogiversary
Wow. Here we are. One year just flied. We published our first blog post on exactly this day a year before and we were so excited. We are still excited! Guess this means we are on a good track – for the most part. One year doesn’t seem long and we still feel that we are in the very beginning of this journey. We still have to learn a lot, we have to find our place and we want to try out a lot of new things. But most importantly, we still want to travel a lot!
Why did we start this blog?
Bet you don’t even need an answer for that. Why the hell anyone start blogging if not to document their stories, share their experiences and inspire others? That was the main motivation behind our blog, too. And something else: we just simply enjoy writing and taking pictures and blogging about our travels. This blog is our playground and the keeper of our precious memories. We shape it as we change.
This is our happy place and we want it to be a happy place for others, too. Yes, that’s you, our dear readers! We are happy to see you around and connect with you. We greatly appreciate each of your comments and we want to thank all of you for this year in the first place. Because guys, you give this place life!
Who is doing what?
We have an introduction page from the beginning, but not much can be found there about our roles on the blog. Mainly because we haven’t defined roles in the beginning. Even after one year we don’t have any strict roles, but it’s mostly clear by now who loves doing what.
Bea is the planner, the writer, the designer and also the photographer most of the times. Yepp, that’s me and writing is my passion just as much as travelling. I’m busy on social media, too.
Csaba is the technical supporter and well, the partner in crime in all of our travels. He is good at finding the best deals and even better at staying calm in unexpected situations. He takes most of our travel videos (you didn’t see any on the blog yet? wait, I’ll tell you about our further plans soon…).
So the numbers…
Our blog is not about numbers. We don’t want it to be. At the same time we don’t want to pretend we don’t care about numbers at all. We care because they mean something, but not everything. We try not to over- nor underestimate them. With that in mind here they are for our first year:
- Overall pageviews so far: 41882
- Monthly pageviews: ~6000
- Number of published posts: 134
- Our visitors by gender: 70% female, 30% male
- Most of our visitors are 18-34 years old: 66%
- We had visitors from 131 countries, but most of our visitors are from the United States: 79% (followed by Canada 5%, UK 3%, Hungary 1% and Australia 1%)
Our most popular posts
Based on the statistics our posts about Hawaii are your favorites. What could we say? It’s one of our favorite destination, too!
Our favorite posts
Our favorite blog posts are different though. These are the ones we loved writing and reading the most:

Looks like the winners are the Notre Dame of Paris and Yosemite National Park:

But they are closely followed by some seriously beautiful landscapes – guys, it seems you love California. Just as us. 😀

One of our favorite things during our first blogging year was to shape our blog. Decide what and how we want to share. Choose our main topics. Create a design. We are far from ready, but our blog has a design and a lot of content by now. And we are so excited to try out new things!
Newsletter is coming soon!
You can sign up for our posts to get them in email right when we publish a new one, but we also plan to create a monthly newsletter. Details are strictly secret. Stay tuned!
We also want to share our travel videos. Whether on a new YouTube channel or on the blog itself, but our videos will soon appear somewhere. 🙂
Blog post series
We started several blog post series to give deeper insight into destinations we explored and loved. There are more to come! And we will finish the current ones, haha, because only two is complete so far. Here they are:
- Best Seasonal Hikes In California (complete): the best places to go for hiking in big and diverse California throughout the year
- Colorful Scenes From The US (complete): photo essay series about colorful natural beauties in the US
- Best Day Hikes In The Sierra Nevada, California: the most memorable day hikes we’ve done in the Sierra Nevada
- 7 Charming Hungarian Cities You’ve Never Heard Of: introducing the most charming cities (other than Budapest) in our home country, Hungary
- Architecture Highlights: a never-ending photo essay series about our favorite pieces of architecture all over the world
Building a community
Building a community is actually our most important goal. And probably the hardest one. Trying out fun stuff with videos and coming up with different types of content is challenging and fun, but interacting with like-minded people and building a community is what is really enjoyable and heartwarming.
We want our blog to be an open door to the world, to all the natural beauties, all the different cultures, all the magnificent, interesting, relaxing and fun things. We encourage all of you to share your thoughts, tips and experiences in the comments because that is also important part of the whole picture. And of course, we are always happy to help if you have any questions.
Then there’s this thing with monetizing our blog. Who would say no to earn some money while doing what you love? Of course, we want to earn some money. But we are glad that we don’t need to worry about earning money with our blog as soon as possible and as much as possible. We both have our full-time jobs, our blog is our hobby in the first place.
We don’t want to let monetizing shape our blog too much. Rather we want to find ways to earn money while we shape our blog how we want. Heh, it’s easier to say it then to do it. We are still thinking about the ways which won’t compromise those things what we value the most in our blog: that it’s free and available to anyone and we are free to write whatever we want as an everyday couple travelling the world.
Affiliate links could be a way. We’ve started to use some affiliate links recently and probably we will have more in the future. This way you can buy things you wanted to buy anyway, but by doing so through our blog we will earn a small commision at no extra cost to you. Thanks so much for your support!
We don’t have anything else yet. But maybe we will write a book. Or sell our pictures. Or start our tour company. Just kidding! Or not?
One thing is for sure though: we will be here. Hope you will, too! 🙂
Now it’s your turn! Tell us what you like about our blog? And what else would you like to see on our blog? We are all ears!
