Summer is our favorite season and we lengthened it a little bit by spending the first two weeks of September in sunny Portugal. It’s another country we’ve visited for the first time this year and surely, it wasn’t the last! We enjoyed vibrant Lisbon, the fabulous palaces of Sintra, the emerald green bays and colorful rocks of Algarve and the countless ocean sunsets. And we already miss the summer we left behind…
Highlights of September
Palaces of Sintra. The tiny medieval village of Sintra is located on the hills near Lisbon and it’s home to countless glamorous palaces. We’ve already been to a bunch of pretty castles so we are not so easy to amaze. But the Palace Of Pena, the Palace Of Monserrate and Quinta Da Regaleira (the Palace Of Mystery) turned out to be our favorite attractions in the Lisbon region. Unique style, exciting stories, wonderful gardens and a sweet romantic atmosphere. We should have spent our honeymoon in Sintra, shouldn’t we?
Algarve. Emerald green bays, yellow, orange and red cliffs, arches, grottos, caves, fabulous beaches, eternal sunshine. The southernmost region of Portugal has everything to amaze us and it did! Our time there was a perfect mixture of relaxed beach days, astonishing coastal hikes and romantic sunsets. Uhm… another perfect honeymoon destination? We guess so. 😀
Doing sport regularly. It sounds like a small thing but we are constantly struggling how to spend time outdoors when we don’t travel. (Since we have full-time jobs, this is the usual case.) As IT engineers we sit all day and our body screams for any activity at the end of the day. We tried to create different schedules for regular workouts in the past years without much success. For the first time, we managed to make it work this summer. We found the time slots and the type of exercises that fit us. We also discovered a cool outdoor fitness park that’s really close to our home. So now we do sport regularly and we enjoy it! The next challenge is to keep up the good work as winter comes. 😀

Coming up in October
As we are out of vacation days for this year we don’t have any big travel plans for October. But no matter how sad we are because summer is over there’s one thing we are looking forward to in October: fall colors! Depending on the weather there’s a couple of weeks – usually in October – when most of the trees in Hungary turn red and gold. That’s one of our favorite times to take a walk in the city parks of Budapest and of course, a perfect time for some lovely hikes.
