Monthly Recap: October 2017
After our action-packed and amazing trips to Iceland and Portugal lately, October was unusually calm. It was also unusually warm and sunny – ideal for hiking and enjoying the beautiful autumn colors. And that’s what we did. We spent most of our free time hiking in Hungary and Slovakia – oh, and making our dreams come true, the next one…
Highlights of October
Fall colors in Slovak Paradise National Park. We like hiking in the charming glens and gorges of Slovak Paradise and exploring new beauties at each new visit. This October we enjoyed a perfectly sunny weekend there with wonderful fall colors in addition.
Hiking in Pilis Mountains. Pilis is one of our favorite getaways from Budapest and fall is our favorite season there! We rarely miss Dobogókő, the highest panoramic viewpoint but we always find paths we haven’t explored yet – like Dera Gorge and Holdvilág-árok this time.
Buying air tickets for our next big adventure. After coming back from a fabulous trip – and we had more than one in the recent past – the best way to overcome travel blues is to start planning our next dream trip. Like buying the air tickets. Because it’s better to buy them well in advance if you want to fly far. Like very far. To another continent that we have been dreaming about such a long time ago. No, we won’t tell where it is just yet, but if you read this blog for a while you can suspect… Otherwise, it’s a secret for next spring. 😛 We are super excited to plan this trip and you’ll definitely hear more about it.

Coming up in November
Uhm, we have a lot of plans for November, let’s see: trying out different fruits and decide which goes best with chocolate fondue, enjoying Christmas flavoured tea on our comfy couch (yes, Christmas flavour exists… what else would you call apple, plum and cinnamon flavoured tea?), catching up on movies from the past couple of years, baking tons of cookies together and dreaming about our next big adventure (and the following one, and the following one…).
As for travelling? We are out of vacation days for this year. As for the outdoors? We can’t help but hate November here in Hungary. Beautiful fall colors disappear by November, days are getting shorter and shorter, the landscape is bare and grey – just like skies most of the times. There’s not much to do other than waiting for the first snow to turn the landscape beautiful again. So November is our prime time for movies, books, cooking, baking and being lazy and comfortable at home.
