Monthly Recap: November 2017

Well, November in Budapest was just as grey and gloomy as we expected. Okay, slightly less cold. So we, the fearless adventurers spent most of our free time in our warm and cosy flat. We tried hiking once. We hiked up to Prédikálószék in the Pilis Mountains that is one of our favorite panoramas in Hungary. The sun was shining as we started but it was all dark and foggy when we reached Prédikálószék.

Yeah, we got it, that’s why we hate you, November. 😛 But actually, you weren’t that terrible. We had a lot of things to enjoy, it’s just that hiking is not one of them this time.

Highlights of November

Cooking Chinese food. We’ve cooked Chinese food at home for the first time. The result was delicious! The recipes we tried were Sichuan Chicken and Sweet and Sour Chicken. Now we are looking for more because it looks like we enjoy both cooking and eating Chinese food – as long as it’s not too spicy.

Chocolate Soufflé. We like cooking but I maybe like baking even more. Especially if it involves chocolate. Since Chocolate Soufflé consists mostly of chocolate how could I not like it? It’s a fairly simple recipe but every minute in the oven counts. It took only two tries to find out exactly how long to bake it to be perfect: crusted on top but still jiggly in the center. Mmmhm… I think I go and bake some more right now. 😀

Meeting with friends. Being at home also means we have more time to host friends or go out with them. These are usually not so #instaworthy but rather cheerful moments that mean much to us!

Go running in our neighbourhood. Before you think that we mostly just cook and eat all winter, let me proudly tell you that we still exercise regularly. And we enjoy it! Especially running in our neighbourhood. It’s one of the good things to live further from the city center of Budapest: we don’t need to take the tram to go somewhere to run. We just run in our neighbourhood and visit the different open-air gyms on our way.

Destinations visited

Pilis, Hungary

Well, the list of recipes we tried this month would definitely be longer, but here you go:

Szeged, Hungary

Most popular post from November

Praia da Ursa, Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, Portugal

The Wild Western Coastline Of Portugal – scenic stops and pretty hikes on our way from Sintra to Algarve. This breathtaking coastline deserved to be found similar as the one we loved so much in California. We could have hardly given it a nicer compliment. 🙂
