Monthly Recap: August-September 2019

August and September have been the busiest months of our lives. The most challenging ones, as well. With almost zero travels.

Bea was in her ninth month in August, her belly got heavy, and we were preparing for the arrival of our son. Well, no matter how you prepare, we doubt you can ever be prepared for having a baby. Anyway, he is the biggest news we’d like to share with you this time. 🙂

It’s a boy!

Monthly Recap: August-September 2019

He was born at the end of August. A healthy, strong little boy. He’s keeping us busy ever since, and each new day brings new joys and challenges. But we at least started catching up on all those missed sleeping hours. And also started thinking about our first trip with him…

Monthly Recap: August-September 2019 - Bakony Mountains, Hungary

And what about our recent travels? This is a travel blog, after all. Even though we didn’t travel much in the past two months, we had some nice short day trips from Budapest in August. We often decide to explore more of our own backyard, then we end up hiking in the Tatras. 😀 Since those strenuous hikes were not an option this time, we finally spent a lot of time exploring lesser known sights around Budapest. Here are our favorites from August:

Veszprém. The lovely Old Town of Veszprém with its pastel colored historical houses and pretty churches.

Esterházy Palace of Pápa. This Baroque palace has been recently renovated and reopened. We enjoyed its creative interior tour that gave us an insight into the everyday life of the Esterházy family.

Bakony Mountains. Of course, we tried to do some hiking. Easy trails. It turned out that nothing is easy enough for a pregnant woman in her last month. Anyway, we ended up walking to Lake Hubertlaki, a nice little lake that flooded part of the surrounding forest which gives it a special look.

Coming up in October

Börzsöny Mountains, Hungary

As first-time parents we already realized some important eternal truths. One of them is that having a baby increases the uncertainty in your life significantly. You can’t even plan your next day. You can try. But most probably something will happen that suddenly changes your plans. Surely, it will be easier as we get some experience and as he grows (or not? 😀 ). But right now, we are far from planning anything for our next month.

Still we hope we’ll have a nice, warm October so that we can do some short walks and hikes with our little adventurer.

How about you? How was your September? What are your plans for the next month?
