Looking for expert advice and insider tips before visiting Central Europe? “But wait… what do you mean by Central Europe?” Glad you asked, because we’ve already written a nice post explaining the whole Central vs. Eastern Europe debate. Read that if you’re interested, otherwise I’ll tell you the conclusion: Central Europe is not a geographical concept but a historical, social and cultural definition. Its countries are those that were born from the Austro-Hungarian Empire: Austria, Croatia, Czechia, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia.
If we consider that Transylvania and Vojvodina were also part of the former Austro-Hungarian Empire, we could add Romania and Serbia, as well. Some would add them, some would not. This is a complicated question in a complicated region with all the etnic diversity in most countries. We’d include both Romania and Serbia in our Central European guides, and the reason Serbia is not added is that we don’t have much to tell you about our travels there (yet).
We live in Central Europe – Hungary, in particular -, and we’ve travelled extensively in this region in the past decade. Whether you’re curious to find cultural and natural treasures, beaches, castles or off-the-beaten-path destinations, just scroll below, choose a country and start planning!

We’ve been travelling together for more than 8 years, and our baby boy who was born last year also joined us on our adventures. We have extensively travelled throughout Europe and the USA, especially California. We’ve had a wonderful campervan trip in Australia where we dream to return.
We will continue to explore Europe, but we’d also like to visit more places in the USA, Australia, New Zealand and Asia in the following years.
We can’t wait to share our favorite adventures along the way.
