Finding Beauty In Our Backyard: Hungary
We try not to make the same mistakes again and again. Still we forget about our home country, Hungary too often. I mean when we plan our travels. Or when we write about our travels. Though this is the country we probably know the best we don’t often talk about it. But we want to change that. Because we appreciate it more and more as we see more from the world.
It’s ironic that we had to travel to very different places to start seeing our own country special. Or that we had to visit a bunch of cities to realize how beautiful Budapest (our capital city) actually is – no offense to other cities 😀 . But that’s exactly what happened. Our country, our cities and landscapes remained the same but we see them with different eyes now.
And in this photo essay we are sharing some of those favorite things that our fresh eyes have seen during our wanderings this past year. It doesn’t give a full picture of Hungary at all. But it’s special, it’s typical and it’s beautiful.
First of all, our Parliament in Budapest. The most beautiful building in Hungary!
The charming small towns. Like Tihany.
Scenic trails of Danube-Ipoly National Park with the view of the Danube Bend from above.
Aggtelek National Park with Hungary’s biggest cave and its unique karst formations.
Autumn colors. Every year the country turns into yellow and red for a couple of weeks.
Autumn sunsets in Danube-Ipoly National Park.
Lovely waterfalls of Bükk National Park.
Hiking in Bükk National Park anyway.
Peaceful sunsets at Lake Balaton.
What about your own backyard? Do you explore it often? Any favorite places?
