October is a colorful month in Hungary. It’s the time when our seasonal forests turn into all the shades of yellow, orange, red and brown. It’s the time to enjoy the colorful landscapes before they turn bare and grey. And we are especially happy when we have such a sunny October as this one to enjoy the autumn colors.
Located so close to Budapest, Danube-Ipoly National Park is our favorite hiking getaway. Including the Pilis and Visegrád Mountains, Börzsöny Mountains, the valley of Ipoly river and Szentendre Island, this national park is probably the most diverse in Hungary. And it’s home to the most unique natural beauty of our country: the Danube Bend.
This time we invite you for an autumn walk in the colorful forests of Börzsöny Mountains through our pictures taken this October.
Börzsöny is part of the Inner Western Carpathians. Its tallest peak is Csóványos with 938 meters. This is quite a respectable peak in Hungary, since our highest one is 1014 meters (Kékes peak in Mátra Mountains).
A viewing tower above the forest offers 360 degrees panorama at Csóványos.
There are several trails leading to this peak, all of them run in the forest. At this elevation it’s all seasonal forests – that means amazing autumn colors.
Oh, and some pretty mushrooms.
Do you like autumn? Do you have autumn where you live?
